About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Norwich . This role is crucial for developing and executing long-term and short-term mine plans that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective resource extraction. You will be responsible for designing mine layouts, optimizing production schedules, and managing resource depletion in accordance with geological data and operational constraints within the mining sector . This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and practical knowledge of mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed long-term and short-term mine plans, including open-pit or underground designs.
- Create production schedules, sequencing, and cut-off grade strategies.
- Utilize mine planning software to optimize resource recovery and minimize waste.
- Conduct economic evaluations and feasibility studies for mining projects.
- Collaborate with geological, operations, and engineering teams to integrate planning requirements.
- Monitor mine progress against plans and implement adjustments as needed for the Norwich operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar.
- Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
- Familiarity with geological modeling and resource estimation principles for mining .
