About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Southampton, Hampshire . This role is central to optimizing the extraction of resources by developing short-term and long-term mine plans that ensure safety, efficiency, and economic viability. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to translate geological models into practical mining schedules. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of mine design principles and software. Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans, production schedules, and resource models.
Design mine layouts, including pit designs, haul roads, and ventilation systems, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for simulation and optimization.
Collaborate with operations, geology, and survey teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and mine expansions.
Monitor operational performance against plans, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software packages.
Solid understanding of mining methods, geology, and surveying principles.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment in Hampshire .
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
