About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Glasgow . This role is responsible for developing short-term and long-term mine plans that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective resource extraction. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations personnel to translate geological models into actionable mining schedules and layouts. This position is vital for optimizing production and maximizing resource utilization, contributing to the overall success of the mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules and stope designs.
- Utilize mine planning software to create 3D models of mine layouts and sequences.
- Optimize mine designs for safety, economics, and equipment utilization.
- Collaborate with geological teams to ensure mine plans align with resource models and exploration targets.
- Liaise with operations and maintenance departments to implement and monitor mine plans.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed mining projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in mine planning, preferably in underground or open-pit mining.
- Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
- Solid understanding of mining methods, equipment, and operational constraints.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
