About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their operations team in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure efficient and safe extraction of resources. This role requires strong technical skills in mine design software, a solid understanding of geological data, and the ability to translate these into practical, executable production schedules. You will work closely with operations, geology, and surveying teams to maximize resource recovery and operational efficiency for projects in the Hampshire area.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update detailed mine plans, including layouts, sequencing, and production schedules.
- Utilize mine planning software to optimize resource extraction and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with geologists to interpret resource models and ensure accurate reserve calculations.
- Liaise with operations teams to ensure plans are practical and safely implementable.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mine developments or expansions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Vulcan, Deswik, or Surpac.
- Strong understanding of geological modelling and resource estimation.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in technical planning.
