About the Role
Our client seeks a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their operational team located in Plymouth, Devon . This role is fundamental to designing and optimizing the long-term and short-term extraction plans for mining projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and economic viability. You will leverage sophisticated software and your engineering expertise to create detailed mine plans that guide operations and maximize resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated mine plans , including strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to generate designs for open-pit or underground mines.
- Optimize mine layouts, schedules, and production sequences to meet targets.
- Conduct mine design studies, including slope stability analysis and ventilation planning where applicable.
- Work closely with geology, operations, and surveying teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
- Prepare reports and presentations on mine plans, progress, and economic evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design .
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
- Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
- Knowledge of geotechnical principles and their application in mine design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
