Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their strategic operations, offering a hybrid work arrangement, supporting projects near Sheffield . This role is crucial for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring efficient extraction of resources while adhering to safety, environmental, and economic considerations. You will work with a cross-functional team to translate geological models into practical mining schedules and production targets for the UK mining industry. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update short-term (daily, weekly) and long-term (monthly, yearly) mine production plans.
• Create mine designs, including pit slopes, haul roads, and stope layouts, considering geotechnical and operational constraints.
• Utilize mine planning software to generate schedules, reserve estimations, and production forecasts.
• Collaborate with geological, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment of plans with resource models and operational capabilities.
• Conduct economic evaluations of different mine planning scenarios and assist in budget preparation.
• Monitor plan execution and provide adjustments as needed based on site conditions and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open pit or underground mining.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software such as Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine, or Deswik.
• Solid understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and production optimization principles.
• Knowledge of geotechnical, environmental, and regulatory requirements impacting mine planning.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
