About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and skilled Mine Surveyor to join their underground mining operations team based in Portsmouth . This essential role involves accurately mapping underground workings, monitoring ground movement, and ensuring that excavations are progressing according to design specifications. You will work closely with mining engineers and geologists to provide the precise spatial data required for safe and efficient operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified surveyor to apply their expertise in a critical mining support function, ensuring precision and safety underground.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys of underground mine openings, including tunnels, shafts, and stope areas.
- Establish and maintain survey control networks for underground operations.
- Monitor ground movement and deformation using appropriate survey techniques and instruments.
- Prepare and interpret survey plans, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations.
- Liaise with mining engineers and geologists to provide accurate data for mine planning and design adjustments.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure calibration standards are met.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mine surveyor, preferably in underground environments.
- Proficiency with surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD ) and mine modeling software.
- Strong understanding of geodetic principles and coordinate systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
