About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team, focusing on ensuring the stability and safety of mining operations, with a focus on Portsmouth and surrounding regions. You will be responsible for assessing geological conditions, designing ground support systems, and mitigating risks associated with underground and open-pit mining. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geotechnical investigations and site characterization for mining projects.
- Design and oversee the implementation of ground support systems for tunnels and mine excavations.
- Conduct stability analyses for slopes, waste dumps, and underground workings.
- Develop and implement seismic monitoring and risk assessment programs.
- Provide expert technical advice on geotechnical matters to project teams and management.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific experience in mining environments .
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., Rocscience suite, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and hydrogeology.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
