Mine Ventilation Engineer - Hybrid

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their operations team, supporting mines in the South West region, based near Bristol . This critical role ensures the health and safety of personnel by maintaining optimal air quality, temperature, and pressure within underground mining environments. You will design, implement, and manage ventilation systems, conduct airflow modeling, and ensure compliance with stringent safety standards. The hybrid model allows for efficient remote planning and analysis, complemented by essential onsite inspections and system management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems, including fans, ducting, and regulators.
• Conduct airflow modeling and simulations to predict and manage ventilation network performance.
• Monitor and control air quality, temperature, and humidity in underground workings.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mine ventilation.
• Perform regular inspections of ventilation systems and equipment.
• Investigate and resolve ventilation-related issues, such as dust and gas control problems.
• Collaborate with mine planning and safety departments to integrate ventilation requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in ventilation.
• 5+ years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim, MineCad).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and air quality management.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, balancing site visits with remote analysis.
