About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mineral Processing Engineer to join their team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role focuses on optimizing the processes used to extract valuable minerals from ore, ensuring maximum recovery and product quality while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will be involved in the design, operation, and troubleshooting of processing plants, contributing to the technological advancement of our operations. This is a key position for an engineer passionate about metallurgical processes and their application in the mining industry in the East Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

Optimize mineral processing circuits (e.g., crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching) to improve recovery rates and product quality.
Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processes and equipment.
Troubleshoot operational issues within the processing plant and implement effective solutions.
Develop and update process simulation models.
Ensure processing operations comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing plant operations or design.
Strong understanding of physicochemical principles relevant to mineral separation.
Experience with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKsimMet).
Familiarity with various comminution and separation technologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
