Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, including credit reports, income verification, and property appraisals.
- Determine the eligibility of applicants and assess the associated risks based on established lending policies and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing mortgage lending.
- Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly to loan officers and other relevant parties.
- Manage a pipeline of mortgage applications, ensuring timely processing and decision-making.
- Stay updated on changes in mortgage products, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter, with a strong understanding of underwriting principles.
- Solid knowledge of mortgage lending regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in mortgage origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
