Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their innovative research and development team in Plymouth . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of novel drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical formulations to enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance. You will work collaboratively with chemists, analysts, and engineers to bring new drug products from concept to clinical readiness. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topicals) for small molecules and biologics.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Perform formulation optimization experiments to achieve desired drug release profiles, bioavailability, and stability.
• Utilize laboratory equipment for formulation development, characterization, and analytical testing.
• Prepare technical reports, development summaries, and contribute to regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with analytical development teams to establish appropriate testing methods for new formulations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
• Strong knowledge of drug delivery systems, excipients, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with analytical techniques used for characterization of drug products (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing, DSC).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a hybrid setting in Plymouth .
