About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety initiatives in Birmingham . This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of operations within the demanding oil and gas sector . You will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process-related risks, championing a robust safety culture throughout the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to safety management, contributing significantly to the operational reliability and compliance of our client's facilities, with a blend of on-site and remote work flexibility to support diverse project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and risk assessments for new and existing processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards for process safety .
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety aspects to engineering and operational teams.
- Facilitate safety training sessions and promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Process Safety Engineer in the oil and gas or chemical industries.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, such as PHA, MOC, and mechanical integrity.
- Familiarity with industry standards like API, ASME, and NFPA relevant to process safety.
- Experience with quantitative risk assessment (QRA) methodologies is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex safety information.
