About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed operations team in Birmingham . This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are embedded within all chemical processes, safeguarding personnel, the environment, and company assets. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting thorough risk assessments, and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for engineering and operations personnel.
- Audit safety procedures and systems to ensure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a process safety role within the chemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in conducting PHAs and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical safety standards and legislation.
