About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and analytical Senior Energy Trader to join their dynamic trading desk in Oxford . This role is crucial for managing and optimizing the company's portfolio of energy assets, including power, gas, and renewable energy certificates. You will be responsible for executing trading strategies in wholesale markets, managing risk exposure, and identifying opportunities to enhance profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of energy market dynamics, strong quantitative skills, and a proven track record of successful trading, contributing significantly to the company's commercial success in the competitive energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trading strategies across various energy markets (power, gas, carbon, etc.).
- Monitor market trends, news, and data to identify trading opportunities and risks.
- Manage and hedge the company's position and exposure to market volatility.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, counterparties, and other market participants.
- Provide market analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading or a closely related market role.
- Proven track record of successful trading and risk management in wholesale energy markets.
- Strong understanding of commodity markets , derivatives, and trading platforms.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills under pressure.
