About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Farm Manager to oversee operations at a significant agricultural estate in Leicestershire . This pivotal role involves leading all aspects of farm management, from crop cultivation and livestock care to staff supervision and financial oversight. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency, sustainability, and profitability across the enterprise, working closely with the owner to implement strategic agricultural goals and uphold the highest standards of land stewardship and animal welfare. This is a hands-on position requiring a blend of strategic thinking and practical agricultural knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive farm management plans, including crop rotation, soil health management, and pest control strategies.
- Oversee daily livestock operations, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, health, and breeding programs.
- Manage and supervise a team of farm workers, providing training, setting performance objectives, and fostering a safe working environment.
- Control farm budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage resources efficiently to maximize profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, environmental policies, and health and safety standards.
- Maintain detailed records of crops, livestock, equipment, and financial transactions.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a farm management or senior agricultural role.
- A strong understanding of modern agricultural techniques, crop science, and animal husbandry.
- Demonstrable experience in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation within an agricultural context.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Proficiency in farm management software and record-keeping systems.
- Relevant degree or qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field is highly desirable.
