Senior Mine Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mine Geologist to play a leading role in their operations located near Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This position is crucial for geological interpretation, resource modeling, and guiding the extraction process to maximize value and ensure operational efficiency. You will be responsible for overseeing geological activities on-site, mentoring junior geologists, and collaborating closely with mine planning and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mind, extensive experience in ore body modeling , and a commitment to geological best practices in a demanding mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data from drilling, sampling, and mapping to define ore bodies and waste zones.
• Develop and maintain accurate geological models and resource estimates using specialized software.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to optimize mine layout and extraction sequences based on geological understanding.
• Supervise and conduct geological mapping, core logging, and rock chip sampling programs.
• Monitor geological conditions during mining operations, identifying and advising on geological hazards.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists and field technicians, fostering professional development.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine geology, with a strong focus on exploration and production environments.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine).
• Solid understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, or relevant mineralization styles.
• Experience with statistical analysis and resource estimation techniques (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
