About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their operational team near Stoke-on-Trent . This vital role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive mine ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. You will play a key part in maintaining optimal air quality, temperature, and pressure conditions deep within the mine, directly impacting productivity and worker well-being. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of mine ventilation principles and airflow dynamics, contributing essential expertise to the mining operations .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine ventilation systems, including fan selection, ducting, and airflow distribution.
- Conduct airflow surveys, simulations, and analyses to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies for controlling dust, gases, and temperature within mine environments.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
- Collaborate with mine planning and production teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design.
- Provide technical guidance and training to site personnel on ventilation procedures and equipment.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation software (e.g., VENTSIM, Minescape) and thermodynamic principles.
- Strong knowledge of mine gases, dust control, and climate control within subterranean environments.
- Experience with monitoring systems and predictive maintenance for ventilation equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
