About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Process Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Aberdeen, Scotland, UK . This pivotal role involves the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. You will work on challenging projects, contributing to innovative solutions within the energy and chemical sectors. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, driving projects from conceptualization through to successful implementation, playing a key role in maintaining our client's position as a leader in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new chemical processes and the optimization of existing ones, focusing on yield improvement and cost reduction.
- Conduct process simulations, feasibility studies, and techno-economic evaluations for potential projects.
- Ensure all processes comply with relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, including HAZOP studies .
- Manage process engineering aspects of capital projects, from conceptual design through to commissioning and handover.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for plant operations, resolving complex process issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or energy industries.
- Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with project management methodologies and leading technical teams is highly desirable.
