About the Role
Our client requires a dedicated and hands-on Telecoms Field Service Engineer to provide essential on-site support and maintenance for their communication systems across Cardiff and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of various network equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to client services. This role demands a practical, problem-solving approach and excellent customer-facing skills, as you'll be the primary technical point of contact for many of our valued customers, upholding our commitment to reliable service delivery in the telecoms sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission new telecoms equipment at customer sites, including network hardware and software.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with existing telecommunication systems, including voice and data networks.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- Respond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities, including work performed and parts used, within the company's systems.
- Provide basic training and support to end-users on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications principles, including copper, fibre optics, and IP networking.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hardware and software issues on various network devices.
- Excellent practical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
- A valid UK driving license is essential for travel to customer locations in and around Cardiff .
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric attitude.
